Kenny Ross wins audition for Orchestra Next

Orchestra Next is a training orchestra and resident orchestra with the Eugene Ballet Company. Members are selected from around the country via YouTube Audition. Kenny was selected this year on bass trombone and will be playing Nutcracker and Peer Gynt with the orchestra.


Kenny Ross makes final round for Petri Scholarship Competition

The Petri Scholarship Competition is a generous award to assist a musician on the cusp of a performing career. The competition is open to all instruments and from ages 21-35 years of age. Applicants must be an Oregon resident. Kenny will now be competiting in the final round on July 1st at Portland State University.


Bailey Schmidt accepts full tution scholarship to Peabody Conservatory

Bailey Schmidt will be attending Peabody Conservatory starting in the fall of 2017. Schmidt was awarded a full tution scholarship to attend the conservatory and will be studing with Aaron LaVere, Principal Trombone of the Baltimore Symphony.


John Church (Grad. 2015) wins principal trombone of the Portland Opera

John Church was the last person standing at the end of Portland Opera auditions this past weekend.He will be starting up with the orchestra under the direction of George Manahan in the summer of 2018


Bailey Schmidt takes 2nd place in Eugene Sypmphony Concerto Competition

Bailey was awarded 2nd place for his performance of Launy Grondahl’s Concerto for Trombone in the Eugene Symphony Concerto Competition. Bailey was awarded $500.00 dollars from the Eugene Symphony.


Track Town Trombones perform at Awbrey Park Elementary School

The UO Trombone Choir performed for over 400 children (k-5th grade) at an all school assembly in Eugene. The concert was an introduction to the trombone for the children. When asked what instrument they would play the students all yelled,“trombone!"


Track Town Trombones selected to perform at ITF

March 6th, 2017

The UO Trombone choir (Track Town Trombones) has been selected to perform at this years International Trombone Festival. This will be the UO's first appearance at an ITF. Hosted at the Univeristy of Redlands, the UO trombone choir will be performing on June 29th in the Memorial Chapel at 4:30pm.

UO Trombone Choir will perform for the Thurston High School wind ensemble as part of their outreach and recruitment tour. 8am, Thurston High School.

Kenny Ross to Perform Junior Recital

Kenny will be performing solo works on both tenor and bass trombone. Solo’s include: Cavatine by Saint-Saens, Ballade by Bozza, Lebedev Concerto, and more. Recital starts at 7:30pm in room 190 in the SOMD.

University of Oregon to Host Alessi Seminar 2017

Joseph Alessi, of the New York Philharmonic will be presenting his seminar August 5th-13th at the University of Oregon, School of Music and Dance. Other facutly at the seminar include: Peter Ellefson of Indiana University, Jon Whitaker of Alabama University, and Henry Henniger of University of Oregon. The seminar includes: daily master classes, orchestral sections, trombone quartets, trombone choir, and recitals.
